Bernama reported that the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has reprimanded elected representatives for continuous politicking, saying it has only led to instability.
Rakyat paying the price of your doings
And the rakyat would be the ones paying the price, he said.
“It seems that the Yang Berhormats are refusing to learn how power tussles caused divisions in society and led to the collapse of a nation,” Sultan Sharafuddin said when officiating the state assembly this morning.
“Do you not realise that when leaders jostle for power it would become politically unstable and the people would suffer the consequences?”
He said the situation was worsened by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sultan Sharafuddin also expressed regret that the power tussle and political uncertainty had become more apparent of late.
He said the assemblymen should instead familiarise themselves with the problems faced by their constituents, especially aid needed by those affected by the pandemic.
“The people need you to help them in this time of need. Help them. Don’t just look for them during an election,” he said.
Sultan Sharafuddin said the elected representatives should find out how many had lost their jobs and look for ways to help them.
Don’t be complacent, those fully vaccinated told
Sultan Sharafuddin expressed concern over the continuing rise in the number of Covid-19 cases, especially with Selangor still reporting the most number of infections and deaths every day.
“I don’t want to blame any quarters over the rise in Covid-19 cases and the death toll in the country but in my opinion, it is due to negligence in terms of enforcement and compliance with the SOP set by the health ministry and the National Security Council (MKN),” Bernama quoted him as saying.
He reminded individuals who have been fully vaccinated not to be complacent and feel that they are already immune to the virus.
They should comply with the SOPs and always observe the new normal to help the government curb the spread of Covid-19.
“Always wear face masks when leaving the house and comply with the physical distancing rule,” he said.
